Learning Echocardiography Proves to be a Challenging Endeavor

Written by: Trisha Reo AAS, RDMS, RVT

Echocardiography is an ultrasound application that uses sound waves to produce live images of the heart and is useful in monitoring heart function. As an imaging modality, it requires extensive training to master.

At Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute, the trusted Adult Echocardiography CME leader since 1985, we offer the most comprehensive hands-on Introduction to Adult Echocardiography course available. Our 5-day course perfectly blends didactic and hands-on scanning practice, allowing you to immediately implement the skills learned into your clinical practice. Most of the healthcare professionals we have trained have expressed that the main challenges when initially learning Echocardiography were the projections (or views) and connecting the physics of ultrasound and measurements to practical application. Our participant feedback consistently reflects that the didactic theory sessions followed by hands-on scanning practice with immediate feedback from our expert faculty combine to provide the perfect learning environment.

If you are interested in learning or growing your skills in Echocardiography, we invite you to join us at our state-of-the-art facility in St. Peterburg, Florida for our upcoming Introduction to Adult Echocardiography course. We offer an industry leading 3:1 participant to instructor ratio which provides you ample skills training with individual attention, a must for this challenging imaging modality. And you can rest assured that our number one priority is to provide you a safe and healthy learning environment. In response to COVID-19, we have limited class sizes to no more than 35 individuals per course, have implemented enhanced daily sanitizing protocols including daily disinfectant fogging, and require daily temperature screening and completion of the COVID questionnaire by all faculty, staff, participants and live models. In addition, all faculty, participants, staff and live models are required to wear face coverings while moving about the facility and while in the scan lab.

We look forward to working with you and hope to see you at our next Introduction to Adult Echocardiography course!
