Overview

Thoracic Ultrasound: Basic and Advanced Techniques training video is designed to review the fundamentals and advanced applications related to ultrasound evaluation of the lung. Assessment of pneumothorax, pleural effusion, A-lines, B-lines, pulmonary edema, and commonly seen artifacts that may affect diagnostic accuracy are included. Objectives

  • Select the appropriate transducer for performing lung ultrasound
  • Identify commonly seen artifacts that may affect diagnostic accuracy.
  • Outline scan protocols associated lung ultrasound, such as the BLUE protocol.
  • Recognize imaging characteristics and apply diagnostic criteria for the evaluation of pneumothorax, pleural effusion, lung consolidation, pulmonary edema, and Covid-19.

Audience

Physicians, PA’s, sonographers, and other medical professionals who will be involved with performing and/or interpreting lung/thoracic ultrasound examinations. Physicians may include (but is not limited to) emergency medicine, critical care, intensivist, trauma surgeons, cardiology, internal medicine, and primary care.
