Overview

The Introduction to Carotid and Peripheral Vascular Duplex/Color Flow Imaging Blended Combined Course will give you a strong foundation to begin performing and/or interpreting Carotid and Peripheral Vascular and Indirect PV Ultrasound Examinations. The Blended Education format provides flexibility while saving you time and minimizing travel costs.

Begin with the self-paced online courses: Receive fifteen (15) months unlimited access to two (2) comprehensive online courses taught by leading vascular ultrasound experts.

The Carotid Duplex/Color Flow Imaging comprehensive online course covers cerebrovascular anatomy & physiology, Doppler principles, scan techniques, and interpretation criteria with multiple case study examples. with fifteen (15) months unlimited access.

The Peripheral Vascular Duplex/Color Flow Imaging comprehensive online course covers peripheral arterial and venous anatomy& physiology, Doppler principles, peripheral venous scan techniques, including venous insufficiency and ablation procedures, peripheral arterial scan techniques, including assessment of bypass grafts and pseudoaneurysms, interpretation criteria with multiple case study examples, evaluation of abdominal aortic aneurysm, and Intraoperative Duplex/Color Flow Imaging.

Then attend Scanning Skills Workshop: Join us in sunny St. Petersburg, FL for a Two (2) Day (12 Hours) scanning skills workshop at our state-of-the-art facility where all didactics included in the online courses will be covered. The extensive hands-on scanning skills workshop features the industry lowest 3:1 participant to faculty ratio allowing the participant to immediately integrate the skills learned into clinical practice.

For the best ultrasound education experience, completion of the online courses prior to hands on scanning is recommended.

Objectives

  • Increase the participants’ knowledge to better perform and/or interpret carotid and peripheral vascular duplex/color flow imaging ultrasound examinations.
  • Apply knowledge of the anatomy/physiology of the cerebrovascular system into the carotid duplex examination and of the upper & lower extremity venous and arterial systems into the venous & arterial duplex and physiologic testing examinations.
  • Cite Doppler/color physics principles and be able to (sonographers) apply these principles to optimize system controls and/or (physicians) utilize this information for identifying technical errors which may result in misdiagnosis.
  • Perform routine scan protocols, Doppler calculations and document Doppler waveforms for peripheral arterial, peripheral venous, and complete carotid duplex/color examinations.
  • Differentiate normal/abnormal imaging, spectral Doppler/color characteristics for identifying cerebrovascular and peripheral arterial and venous disease.
  • Perform Intima-Media Thickness measurements and state the clinical significance as a screening method for cardiovascular disease.
  • Apply diagnostic criteria for accurate interpretation of carotid and peripheral vascular duplex/color flow examinations and integrate the information to include and prepare a structured report for a carotid ultrasound examination.
  • State the indications and applications of indirect testing methods for lower arterial disease.
  • Demonstrate vein mapping techniques to identify suitability as a potential arterial bypass graft.
  • State the role of ultrasound in the diagnosis and treatment of venous insufficiency.
