Overview

The POCUS for Cruise Ship Health Care Blended Training Course provides participants a strong foundation to perform and/or interpret the core ultrasound applications in an emergency or critical care setting outlined in the ACEP POCUS for Cruise Ship Health Care practice guidelines. The Blended Education format provides flexibility while saving you time and minimizing travel costs.

Begin with the self-paced online course: Taught by leading emergency and critical care medicine ultrasound experts, the online course incorporates comprehensive lectures, live demonstrations, and post-activity quizzes covering core POCUS for Cruise Ship Health Care ultrasound applications with fifteen (15) months unlimited access.

Then attend Scanning Skills Workshop: Join us in sunny St. Petersburg, FL for a One (1) Day (6 Hours) scanning skills workshop at our state-of-the-art facility. The extensive hands-on scanning skills workshop features the industry lowest 3:1 participant to faculty ratio allowing the participant to immediately integrate the skills learned into clinical practice. Hands-on skills training includes Imaging Fundamentals and System Optimization/Knobology, E-FAST (Trauma & Lung), POCUS for DVT Evaluation, and Ultrasound-Guided Central & Peripheral Vascular Access. Each participant receives a scan log of examinations performed to use for credentialing and/or POCUS certification needs.

For the best ultrasound education experience, completion of the online course prior to the hands-on scanning workshop is recommended

Objectives

  • Increase participant’s knowledge to better perform and/or interpret Emergency ultrasound examinations
  • State the basic fundamentals of ultrasound physics and demonstrate appropriate optimization of system controls.
  • Perform extended ultrasound evaluation of the trauma patient (E-FAST exam) and pneumothorax.
  • Demonstrate image orientation, transducer preparation, and scan protocols for performing use of ultrasound guidance for central and peripheral vascular access
  • Outline protocol for focused evaluation of DVT.
  • Increase competence to incorporate protocols, scan techniques, and interpretation criteria into clinical practice.

This live blended hands-on Point of Care Ultrasound Scanning Skills Workshop is designed for Physicians, PA’s, sonographers and other medical professionals who have little or no experience performing and/or interpreting the core POCUS ultrasound examinations, but have a desire to expand their skills to integrate the core and/or advanced ultrasound applications into cruise ship clinical practice. Physician participants may include (but are not limited to) emergency medicine, critical care, internal medicine, trauma surgeons, family practice, and primary care.
