Introduction to MSK Ultrasound - Lower Extremities Online Course is designed to increase knowledge and competence in order to better perform and/or interpret lower extremity musculoskeletal ultrasound. This course is made up of five (5) modules, which include recommended reading assignments, online video lectures, case presentations, and online interactive activities, including post-module exams. Enrollment is valid for 12 months (365 days) and begins the moment the participant is enrolled. Extend your online course access another 3 months with the addition of an onsite hands-on workshop or registration for a regularly scheduled GCUS scan workshop.

  • Demonstrate the participant's knowledge to better perform and/or interpret MSK ultrasound examinations.
  • State the basic fundamentals of ultrasound physics.
  • Demonstrate proper transducer manipulation to produce diagnostic images.
  • Identify normal ultrasound imaging characteristics of musculoskeletal anatomy.
  • Recognize normal ultrasound characteristics associated with the knee.
  • Recognize common knee artifacts and pitfalls.
  • Explain the typical patterns of knee pathology.
  • Apply appropriate techniques and protocols for performing foot and ankle static and dynamic ultrasound examinations.
  • Identify normal and variant anatomy during musculoskeletal ultrasound imaging of the foot and ankle.
  • Recognize common patterns of foot and ankle pathology to optimize the diagnostic and treatment capabilities of musculoskeletal ultrasound of the foot and ankle.
  • Outline the hip anatomy and recognize ultrasound appearance of the normal hip.
  • Identify common hip pathology as seen with ultrasound.
