Overview

The POCUS for Trauma, Austere, and Tactical Applications Online Course provides comprehensive, evidence-based training designed to strengthen rapid clinical decision-making in high-acuity environments. Built directly upon the clinical principles and scanning protocols outlined in the POCUS for Tactical Combat Casualty Care (PTCCC) Handbook, this course ensures learners are aligned with current best practices for both civilian and tactical medicine.

Through expert-led video lectures, case-based demonstrations, and interactive learning modules, participants develop proficiency in essential trauma and acute care ultrasound applications, including lung ultrasound, the eFAST exam, cardiac assessment, shock protocols, central & peripheral US-guided vascular access and nerve blocks, and soft tissue and musculoskeletal. Each module emphasizes practical image acquisition, protocol-driven interpretation, and integration of findings into emergent treatment pathways.

This specialized curriculum also highlights military and operational medicine applications, demonstrating how POCUS supports prolonged field care, austere environments, and rapid triage during combat or mass-casualty scenarios. Clinicians learn how ultrasound enhances diagnostic accuracy and treatment decisions when resources, time, and evacuation capabilities are limited.

Ideal for physicians, advanced practice providers, medics, prehospital and tactical medical personnel, and clinicians treating trauma and critically ill patients, this flexible online course allows learners to train at their own pace, anytime and anywhere.

Strengthen your trauma readiness with trusted, accredited education from Gulfcoast Ultrasound Institute, delivering mission-critical POCUS skills for both civilian and military care environments.
