Overview

Private Hands-On Advanced Critical Care Ultrasound Course provides participants a strong foundation to perform the core critical care ultrasound applications as outlined in the WINFOCUS and ACEP practice guidelines. This course contains the Advanced Critical Care Ultrasound comprehensive online course (featuring fifteen (15) months unlimited access to the video and interactive case presentation modules presented by leading industry experts) PLUS a one (1) day (7 hours) hands on workshop [date of your choice] at our facility in St. Petersburg, FL. The hands-on workshop promises no larger than a 1:1 participant to instructor ratio for ample time actually performing the exams on live models as well as phantoms for practicing ultrasound-guided procedures. This private hands-on course is specifically designed for physicians, sonographers, and other medical professionals who need critical care ultrasound training. For the best ultrasound education experience, completion of the online course prior to hands on scanning is recommended.

Objectives

  • Increase the participant's knowledge to better perform and/or interpret critical care ultrasound examinations.
  • Integrate spectral & color Doppler for evaluation of cardiac disease.
  • Perform a focused cardiac ultrasound examination.
  • Perform emergency ultrasound protocols for the detection of DVT.
  • Recognize ultrasound characteristics associated with cardiomyopathies, pericardial effusions, coronary artery disease, and diastolic dysfunction.
  • Assess / evaluate right ventricular function.
  • Assess hydration status and fluid responsiveness in the emergency and critical care settings.
  • Identify sonographic characteristics associated with abdominal sepsis involving the hepatobiliary, renal, and GI systems.
  • Outline indications and applications of color Doppler in the emergency and critical care setting.
  • Demonstrate the use of ultrasound guidance for peripheral vascular access.
  • Outline the training requirements and Indications for transesophageal echocardiography.

Audience

Physicians, PA’s, sonographers, and other medical professionals who have experience performing and/or interpreting the core EM/CCU ultrasound examinations but have a desire to expand their skills to integrate more advanced applications into clinical practice. This program is a comprehensive online course structured in a modular format including video lectures, case presentations, and post-module quizzes. For the most effective learning experience, participants of this online course should have already attended the Introductory level EM/CCU course (live, blended, or online) or have a minimum of 6 months of experience performing the core ultrasound applications as outlined by the ACEP or WINFOCUS practice guidelines before attending this program. Physicians may include (but are not limited to) emergency medicine, critical care, internal medicine, family practice, and primary care.
