Objectives

  • Increase the participants knowledge to better perform and/or interpret point-of-care ultrasound examinations in an emergency medicine and critical care setting.
  • Recognizing the sonographic appearance of lung point sign, AAA, ruptured ectopic pregnancy, necrotizing fasciitis, bowel obstruction, and hydronephrosis.
  • Recognize the sonographic appearance of hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.
  • Improve knowledge of the benefits of regional anesthesia for rib fracture, hip fracture, and shoulder dislocation.

Audience

Physicians, sonographers, PAs, NPs and other medical professionals involved with performing and/or interpreting point of care ultrasound examinations in an emergency medicine and critical care setting. Physician specialties who may benefit include (but is not limited to) emergency medicine, critical care, internal medicine, radiology, and general surgery.
