Objectives

  • Calculate gestational age utilizing BPD, head circumference, femur length, and abdominal circumference measurements.
  • Outline the initial assessment of the fetal heart, fetal position, and placenta location.
  • Recognize the sonographic appearance of the normal fetal head, spine, bladder, umbilical cord, extremities, kidneys, and stomach.
  • Recognize the sonographic appearance of a normal 4 chamber view of the fetal heart.
  • Measure amniotic fluid using the maximum vertical pocket or amniotic fluid index.

Audience

Physicians, NP’s, PA’s, sonographers, and other medical professionals who will be involved with performing and/or interpreting POCUS for the 2nd & 3rd trimester OB examination. Physician specialties who will benefit from this training video include (but are not limited to) Family Medicine, Primary Care, Radiology, and Emergency Medicine.
