Objectives

  • Recognize the appearance of Right Atrial Swirl and Apical Thrombus
  • Recognize the appearance of an aneurysmal thoracic aorta and dissection.
  • Recall the appearance of an aortic aneurysm.
  • Recognize features of a retinal hemorrhage.
  • Recognize the appearance or a UVJ/UPJ stone.
  • Look for evidence of ectopic pregnancy.
  • Identify metastatic liver disease.
  • Perform examination for shoulder dislocation, muscle tear, and fracture.
  • Recognize the appearance of a pneumoperitoneum.

Audience

Physicians, sonographers, and mid-level providers involved with performing ultrasound in an emergency and/or critical care setting. Physician participants may include (but are not limited to) emergency medicine, critical care, hospitalists, trauma surgery, internal medicine, and primary care.
