Objectives

  • State the clinical indications for performing ultrasound-Guided peripheral nerve injections.
  • Recognize sonographic appearance of the anatomy of the nerves.
  • Outline in-plane and out-of-plane injection techniques
  • List system optimization parameters, examination protocols and scan techniques for performing safe and accurate ultrasound-guided injection techniques.
  • List appropriate techniques for performing ultrasound guided hydro-dissections.
  • Use of Doppler/Power Doppler for nerve/vessel identification and assistance with performing ultrasound-guided injection techniques.
  • Perform ultrasound guided injection techniques for upper and lower extremity nerve applications.

Audience

Physicians, PA’s, sonographers and other medical professionals who will be involved with performing and/or interpreting ultrasound evaluation of peripheral nerves. Physicians may include (but is not limited to) pain management, anesthesia, neurology, PM & R, MSK, radiology, orthopedic and sports medicine.
